| Size of Award | Missouri has established a 1 percent set-aside for renewable and energy efficiency projects under their NOx SIP Call program. Applications are due by the last business day in November for the following ozone season, allowances will be issued March 1st (allowances based on NOx reductions that occurred during the previous ozone season). Allowances for energy efficiency, renewables, biomass generation and CHP are calculated using the EPA recommended conversion factor of 1.5lbs/MWh. |
| Start Date | 5/1/2006 |
| End Date | 12/31/2008 |
| Minimum Efficiency(%) | 60% |
| Additional Information | Eligible projects must have begun operation after September 1, 2005, and must reduce energy use, generate electricity from renewables or provide combined heat and power (CHP) projects during the ozone season (May 1 - September 30). Additionally, MO divides eligible projects into four categories: renewables, renewable biomass generation, energy efficiency and CHP. Eligible renewable generation includes wind, solar, biogas, geothermal and certain types of hydropower (nuclear energy is excluded). Biogas includes generation from landfill methane, wastewater treatment, or agricultural livestock waste treatment. Qualifying hydropower includes: Low Impact Hydropower Institute-certified projects; projects with a head of ten feet or less; or projects with a dam that pre-dates the rule. CHP systems must achieve an efficiency of at least 60 percent. Renewable and biomass projects must be located in Missouri and power must be supplied primarily to those in Missouri. Energy efficiency and CHP projects must be located within the NOx SIP region in Missouri. |
