Size of AwardThe Mississippi Energy Investment Program, administered by the Mississippi Development Authority, is designed for making low-interest loans to sole proprietors, partnerships, or corporations for capital improvements or the development of renewable energy and energy conservation projects. Facilities utilizing the loan proceeds must be located in Mississippi and all projects must demonstrate a reduction in facility energy costs.

Loan recipients will secure an interest rate 3 percent below the prime rate, with a maximum loan term of 7 years. Loans range from $15,000 to $300,000. This program is supported by a revolving loan fund of $7 million, established through federal oil overcharge funds.
