EPA works closely with other governments to help them implement environmental compliance and enforcement programs.

For instance, Federal agencies must comply with environmental requirements in the same manner and extent as privately-owned facilities. The National Enforcement Investigations Center (NEIC) is the only environmental forensic center accredited for environmental data measurement activities.

In addition, EPA assists foreign governments in developing their capacity to conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs). EPA also interacts with foreign governments in controlling the import and export of many materials. Lastly, EPA collaborates with states to measure the environmental outcomes and results of our enforcement and compliance assurance programs, and works with Tribal governments to improve compliance in Indian Country in a manner that recognizes their sovereignty.
