Incarceration
This was a very strong year for criminal sentencing provisions. The 186 years of total incarceration (jail time) was the fifth largest annual figure in the history of the criminal enforcement program.
Fines and Restitution
The $100 million aggregate level of fines and restitution in FY 2005 was the third largest annual amount in the history of the criminal enforcement program. There were a number of significant prosecutions, including several against large corporations, that accounted for the dramatic increase in fines/restitutions.
