The purpose of the Environmental Education Grants Program is to provide seed money to support environmental education projects that increase the public's awareness about environmental issues and provide them with the skills to take responsible actions to protect the environment. Since 1992, EPA has received between $2 and $3 million in grant funding per year and has awarded more than 3,300 grants. Grantees are located in all 50 states and various U.S. territories. Each grant addresses one or more environmental issue, and an educational priority such as teacher training, education reform, or health. A summary of these statistics is provided below.
