Mercury - Mercury is a naturally occurring element that is present throughout the environment. Human activity can release some of that mercury into the air, water and soil. This site provides information on effects on health and wildlife, regulatory programs, and spill clean-up/waste disposal. 
National Waste Minimization Program - Works with industrial organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and communities to find ways for individual companies to reduce the amount of waste they generate, particularly if the wastes contain one or more Waste Minimization Priority Chemicals (WMPCs).
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Programs - EPA's goals for the nation are to recycle 35 percent of MSW generated; to reduce waste generation to 4.3 pounds per person per day; to empower state, local, and tribal governments to better manage solid waste; to provide leadership in source reduction and recycling; to build stronger public and private partnerships; and to ensure the environmental soundness of source reduction, recycling, combustion, and land disposal.

Coastal Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program - A significant portion of the threats to coastal waters are caused by nonpoint source pollution (NPS). Major sources in coastal waters include agriculture and urban runoff. Other significant sources include faulty septic systems, forestry, marinas and recreational boating, physical changes to stream channels, and habitat degradation, especially the destruction of wetlands and vegetated areas near streams.
Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) - The SITE Demonstration Program encourages the development and
implementation of:
- innovative treatment technologies for hazardous waste site remediation and
- monitoring and measurement.
