Voluntary Chemical Sponsorships

Note: EPA no longer updates this information, but it may be useful as a reference or resource.

The November 2004 "Status and Future Directions of the High Production Volume Challenge Program" report outlines the history of the HPV Challenge Program and its progress through 2004.

In the HPV Challenge Program, chemical manufacturers and importers sponsored over 2,200 chemicals. Chemical sponsorship involved a voluntary commitment to develop summaries of existing health and environmental effects data for HPV chemicals and to conduct new testing to fill any data gaps. The materials below outline how the voluntary HPV Challenge Program was established, detail how sponsor companies participated, include guidance documents that aided sponsors in their participation, and contain reports on the program's accomplishments in collecting HPV chemical data.
