2002 Criteria Pollutant Emissions in New England
EPA and the New England State air pollution control agencies have estimated the air emissions of the criteria pollutants for 2002. These comprehensive emission estimates cover all sectors, including stationary, mobile and area sources. This page contains links to state and regional emission estimates for the following pollutants: volatile organic compounds (VOC), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SO2), particulate matter with diameter < 10 micrometers (PM 10), and particulate matter with diameter < 2.5 micrometers (PM 2.5). Emission estimates for the other two criteria pollutants, carbon monoxide and lead, are available from the U.S. EPA's national emissions inventory data website.
The tables below include information on the point, area, and mobile source emissions from each state, and from the six New England states collectively, for 2002. More current emissions data may be available from the state air pollution control agency.
