Dewatering Facility Bulkhead
The dewatering facility is being built along the shoreline near the intersection of Herman Melville Blvd. and Hervey Tichon Ave. in New Bedford. The bulkhead for the dewatering facility currently is under construction and will be finished in June 2003. The bulkhead is adding two new acres of land to the area. The dewatering facility, by squeezing out excess water, will reduce greatly the volume of PCB-contaminated sediment that needs to be disposed of at an off-site licensed landfill or in shoreline confined disposal facilities. The dewatering building construction will begin in June 2003.
