EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) is comprised of several divisions with diversified research specialties. NERL conducts research and development that leads to improved methods, measurements and models to assess and predict exposures of humans and ecosystems to harmful pollutants and other conditions in air, water, soil, and food.
The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA'S) National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) is accepting applications beginning November 2, 2009 through January 11, 2010 for approximately 10 federal, three-year post-doctoral research positions. NERL has opportunities for conducting high priority research that contributes to protecting human health and the environment.

The Office of Research and Development (ORD) seeks to recruit a senior scientist to hold a supervisory management and research leadership position as Division Director in the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL). Currently, there is an opening in the Ecological Exposure Research Division (EERD).

This summer, scientists in EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory began sampling air across Cleveland, Ohio, to better understand the links between sources of air pollution and adverse health effects. The research will be used to develop new tools and models for air quality managers to reduce and control air pollutants at their source. Read more about how NERL scientists are tracking air pollutants...
EPA scientists recently initiated research to test the effectiveness of a new, advanced radar system’s ability to gather data to help EPA understand how wetlands control reactive nitrogen — a significant environmental stressor on the nation’s water quality. Read more about the radar-aided ecosystems services research...
Without access to real and relevant information on exposure to pollutants, community groups can sometimes reach conclusions about health risks based on perception. Scientists in EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory are working to change that with the Community-Focused Exposure and Risk Screening Tool, or C-FERST. Read more about C-FERST...
A Conceptual Framework for the U.S. EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory provides a foundation for addressing NERL's research mission and its scientific leadership goals. Read more about the exposure framework document ...
NERL has compiled a database listing citation information for literature related to PPCPs. (updated July 2009)
