The Superfund cleanup process is complex. Establishing and implementing appropriate cleanup plans is a long-term process that involves a team of decision makers from across EPA and external stakeholders.
To help these teams make statistically defensible decisions at Superfund sites, ORD's Site Characterization and Monitoring Technical Support Center (SCMTSC) developed the ProUCL software. This software computes rigorous and defensible statistics to help decision makers choose remediation options that are cost-effective and protective of human health and the environment.
ProUCL is widely accepted across the country and recommended and used by many states for their own waste management programs.
ProUCL was updated in September of 2013 to version 5.0. This new version includes Windows 8 compatibility, updated support documents, module enhancements in upper confidence limits, exposure point concentrations, background threshold values, and an upper simultaneous limit (USL) statistic.
