Introduction to Section 319 of the Clean Water Act (CWA): Nonpoint Source (NPS) Management Programs

Session 1: July 22, 2009: Discussion of NPS pollution, common best management practices, and using section 106 or other funding (other than 319) to help implement a NPS Program.

Inspector Health and Safety Training Online

The Environmental Protection Agency's Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) Program is now available on-line. These courses are essential for inspectors conducting on-site (field) work. The course for new inspectors is called "EPA SHEM Training for Field Activities." This course consists of 7 modules covering field activities, including information on rights and responsibilities, chemical hazards, physical hazards, biological hazards, personal protection, general safety, and field operations & support activities. Inspectors may also need to take the OSHA "Collateral Duty" course. A "Radiation Safety" and a "Laboratory Activities" safety course are also available. Ongoing and Web-based Scientific Training Opportunities

Computer-Based Training Course on Risk Based Air Toxics
EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards' Education and Outreach Group offers a web-based training course on risk-based air toxics, providing a basic understanding of air pollution toxicology, epidemiology, and risk assessment.

Environmental Hazard Assessment in Indian Country: Indian Country Environmental Hazard Assessment and Management Systems Training Project (ICEHAP): Training in environmental hazard assessment is provided to tribes wishing to solve environmental problems on their lands. Sponsored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in cooperation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Indian Health Service, the training is presented upon request by ICEHAP volunteers. Toxicology Tutor Exit EPA
Toxicology Tutor is a set of three tutorials on toxicology produced by the Toxicology and Environmental Health Information Program of the National Library of Medicine, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It covers basic principles of toxicology and is written at the introductory college student level. The Toxicology Tutors are intended to provide a basic understanding of toxicology as an aide for users of toxicology literature contained in the National Library of Medicine's Chemical and Toxicological databases.

Ground Water and Drinking Water, the Drinking Water Academy: Established by the U.S. EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, the Drinking Water Academy (DWA) is a long-term training initiative whose primary goal is to expand EPA, state, and tribal capabilities to implement the 1996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).

Clean Water Act Tribal Training is a series of web trainings on the Clean Water Act, hosted by EPA's Office of Water.

EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards' Education and Outreach Group Website provides technical air pollution training and distance learning opportunities. Links to publications and other informational resources are also included.

The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals Exit EPA offers training courses to assist tribes in the management of their environmental resources.

The International Institute for Indigenous Resource Management Exit EPA conducts workshops and conferences on the scientific, legal, ethical, cultural, and policy aspects of natural resource management, environmental protection, and environmental restoration issues.

The Tribal Air Monitoring Support (TAMS) Center Exit EPA, created through a partnership between tribes, the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals, and EPA, the TAMS Center provides a variety workshops on tribal air issues.
