- Type Of Program:
Maryland has a red tag-type program
but uses yellow tags.
- How To Identify An Ineligible Underground Storage Tank:
The application of a yellow tag and/or lock to the tank's fill pipe identifies
an ineligible underground storage tank. Deliveries to these tanks
are prohibited until the removal of the yellow tag is authorized by the
inspector administering the yellow tag or other designated Maryland Department
of the Environment official. The Maryland Department of the Environment
will notify the tank owner and operator. The Department will
further make an attempt to notify known delivery companies as well as post
delivery ban information on the MDE Web site (under development). The
tank operator is responsible for notifying the delivery company of the delivery
prohibition status.
