- How To Identify An Ineligible Underground Storage Tank:
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control may classify an underground storage tank as ineligible for
delivery, deposit, or acceptance of product if certain non-compliant conditions
exist. An underground storage tank may also be classified as
ineligible in South Carolina if the owner/operator has failed to renew his
or her annual registration. In accordance with the authority
established in the State Underground Petroleum Environmental Response Bank
Act, Section 44-2-140, the Department may prescribe conditions as necessary
for the operation of any underground storage tank. Facilities
that have one or more underground storage tanks that are prohibited from
receiving product may be placed on the delivery prohibition list. Entries
to the delivery prohibition list will be deleted on the same working day
that prohibition is lifted.
