UST/LUST Program Status In New Hampshire

New Hampshire was granted state program approval (SPA) in 1991. All six states in Region 1 have approved programs. Region 1 was the second Region to have all of its states achieve SPA.

Number of active underground storage tanks 3,143 (national total: 611,449)
Number of confirmed releases 2,396 (national total: 488,496)
Number of cleanups completed 1,667 (national total: 388,331)
Number of cleanups in backlog to be completed 729 (national total: 100,165)

Percent of facilities in significant operational compliance with:
Release prevention requirements 72%
Release detection requirements 73%
Both prevention and release detection requirements 56%
