Utah was granted state program approval (SPA) in 1995. Five of the six states in Region 8 have approved programs.

Number of confirmed releases	4,341 (national total: 474,127)
Number of cleanups completed	3,886 (national total: 365,361)
Number of cleanups in backlog to be completed	455 (national total: 108,766)

Percent of facilities in significant operational compliance with:

	Release prevention requirements	80%
	Release detection requirements	74%
	Both prevention and release detection requirements	65%
