Student Volunteer Program
The Student Volunteer Program provides practical experience while students are enrolled in an academic program. This unpaid work opportunity provides information about the Agency and its mission and allows volunteers to explore various occupations in the Federal work environment and develop an interest in new and emerging occupations and professions.

Eligibility Requirements: Volunteers must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited high school or other educational institution.

The Student Educational Employment Program is an educational program that offers opportunities for students from high school through graduate study. By combining work experience with studies, the EPA Student Educational Employment Program can help students obtain valuable experience for future employment.

The Student Educational Employment Program has two components:

1. Student Temporary Employment Program: Students are appointed to positions that do not exceed 1 year. Appointments may be extended in 1-year increments.

2. Student Career Experience Program: Under provisions of the Federal Cooperative Education Program, this program provides experience that is directly related to a student's academic/career goals, and may lead to non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon graduation.

Eligibility Requirements: Participants must meet qualification requirements for the position to which appointed and be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree, certificate, or diploma seeking student taking at least a half-time course load in an accredited high school, technical, or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate, or professional school. They must also be at least 16 years of age and a citizen of the United States (or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed).

Summer Employment Program
The Summer Employment Program creates training and work opportunities for students who can work during the summer months. These positions generally begin in mid-May and end no later than September 30. Work ranges from office support occupations to positions in professional fields such as engineering and environmental sciences.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment and qualify for the position based on experience and/or education.
