Are There CAFOs in Region 7?
More than 20% of the CAFOs in the country are located in Region 7. The region has 985 or 56% of the beef cattle CAFOs in the country, and 1,131 or 29% of the hog CAFOs.
The Region holds 38% of the national inventory of hogs. Iowa is first in hog production in the nation. Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa are second, third, and fifth, respectively, in fed cattle production in the nation. In fact, 44% of the country's cattle are fed in Region 7.
