Highways and Interstates for EPA Region 8

Abstract:

    The Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing            
    (TIGER) system contains digital descriptions of water and                   
    transportation features - rivers, lakes, roads, railroads, etc. -           
    as well as major power lines and pipelines. This coverage is                
    a subset of the larger TIGER file, and the coverage has only                
    major roads. The roads in this data file  are taken from the                
    TIGER files based on the Census Feature Class Code (CFCC).

Purpose:

   This coverage is appropriate for use with ArcInfo and related software       
                                                                                
   Intended use of data:                                                    
    Mapping of major roads.

Limitations_of_Data: 
    These roads are appropriate for mapping large areas. For smaller            
    areas, the county roads should be used.
Procedures: 
    These data were processed from the TIGER data files.

    All roads can be mapped using the less-processed TIGER files                
    using the FIPS state and county code.
