PCB Cleanup of Big Spring Creek: Public Notice and Request for Comment
EPA Region 8 hereby provides notice and solicits comments from interested persons regarding the proposed remedial actions for PCB cleanup of Big Spring Creek. Approval is sought by the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) under Toxic Substances Control Act (15 U.S.C. §2605(e)) and the implementing regulations for PCBs at 40 C.F.R. Part 761. EPA is accepting comments on our proposal to approve the MFWP's Proposed Preferred Alternative 3A, subject to additional EPA terms and conditions described in our draft approval, supported by MFWP's feasibility study and baseline ecological and human health risk assessments.
Public Comment Period: EPA's comment period will open on May 11, 2009, and close on June 10, 2009. During the comment period, any interested person may submit written comments concerning the Draft Approval, and may request an extension of the comment period or a public hearing. A person who requests an extension must submit a justification in writing within the first fifteen (15) calendar days of the comment period. A request for the hearing must be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised in the hearing.
