A Nature Park on the Bay

July 2012 marks the grand opening of an East Palo Alto park that was once a toxic dump. Since the groundbreaking late last year, all cleanup at Cooley Landing has been completed and certified by California's Regional Water Quality Control Board. The 80-year-old former dump is now home to thriving native plants and picnic areas.

Cleaning Up Abandoned Gas Stations in Communities

The Underground Storage Tank Partnership in the Interstate 710 Corridor is accelerating the cleanup of abandoned gas station sites in Southern California, preventing contamination of active facilities, and removing barriers to neighborhood revitalization efforts. Many of the areas affected include low-income and underserved communities.

Protecting Arizona's National Parks

More than 11 million people visit national parks in Arizona each year. EPA's proposed rule would require additional pollution controls to improve visibility and human health at 18 national parks and wilderness areas. The public comment period for the proposal has just been extended until September 18.
