This
website provides information and guidance on analytical chemistry and characteristic
testing methodologies, environmental sampling and monitoring, and quality
assurance in support of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
program. The site is broken down into the following categories of information: - SW-846 - describes the test methods contained in "Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste, Physical/Chemical Methods", the official compendium of analytical and sampling methods that have been evaluated and approved for use in complying with the RCRA regulations.
- Mice Service - describes the Methods Information Communication Exchange (MICE) Service that provides timely answers to method-related questions and takes comments on technical issues regarding SW-846 methods.
- PBMS - describes the Performance-Based Measurement System (PBMS) that conveys "what" needs to be accomplished by a method, but not prescriptively "how" to do it.
- National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) - describes the annual conference for all interested parties to work together to solve RCRA environmental monitoring and waste characterization problems.
- Methods
Development and Approval Process - describes the two-part process
to assist people interested in having a method included in SW-846.
- Related
Links - includes links to resources and hotlines, guidance documents,
other EPA test methods, and other relevant sites.
