EPA Adds South Gate Industrial Facilities to List of Nation's Worst Toxic Sites
Southern Avenue Industrial Area site and Jervis B. Webb Co., former industrial facilities located in South Gate in Los Angeles County, were added to the Superfund National Priorities List. -
Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Jose are Energy Star Leaders
In northern California, nearly 600 Energy Star certified buildings in San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose have helped save about $140 million annual utility bills and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equal to emissions from the annual energy used in nearly 9,000 homes. -
San Joaquin Valley landfill to spend $3.8 million to resolve Clean Air Act violations
In addition to a $200,000 penalty, Forward Inc. of Manteca has agreed to improve the landfill's gas collection and control system and to replace trucks in the landfill's fleet with less polluting vehicles.
