AED Historical Research Themes
This web site describes the history of development in the New Bedford Harbor watershed, and the effects of that development on the ecology of the harbor. In addition to the ecological history of New Bedford Harbor, the web site includes these sections: why history is important to environmental scientists and managers; a time line listing the history of public health and environmental legislation; information about environmental contaminants; a brief description on how to analyze the effects of historical development on the environment; and a list of other web sites about New Bedford, sources of historical maps, and sites of interest to teachers.
