How To Enlarge Text on Your Computer
Some users may desire to enlarge text on their computer screen to view it more clearly.
There are several ways to enlarge text on a computer screen; we are providing general instructions for three methods. We hope that one of these methods will provide the assistance that you need.
Please note: different versions of Windows and the Internet Explorer or Netscape browsers have slight variations, therefore, for your particular computer, you may need to modify the information on this page.
Internet Explorer
To view Web page text larger (or smaller):
- You have a menu bar across the top of your screen with the following options: File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help
- Click on View and you will see a drop down box. Point to Text Size, and another box will open.
- Select the font size that you prefer: Largest, Larger, Medium, Smaller, Smallest.
Netscape
To view Web page text larger (or smaller):
- You have a menu bar across the top of your screen with the following options: File, Edit, View, Go, Communicator, Help
- Click on View and you will see a drop down box. Point to Increase Font to make the text larger.
- Click on View and you will see a drop down box. Point to Decrease Font to make the text smaller.
Windows Computer
To view text larger:
- You have a Start bar with several options including Settings.
- Click on Settings and you will see a drop down box. Point to Control Panel.
- A new window will open on your desktop. You will see a file called Display. Click on this file.
- A smaller box will open with several "tabs" at the top. Select the tab called Settings. In the lower right side of the box you will see Screen Area. Move the lever to the left, toward "Less".
- A smaller box will open with several "tabs" at the top. Select the tab called Settings. In the lower right side of the box you will see Screen Area. Move the lever to the left, toward "Less".
- Please Note: This will make all the text everywhere on your computer larger. It will affect how large text looks in all your documents as well as on the Internet. These instructions are only for computers using the Windows operating system.
