Statement Of Elizabeth A. Selk

Environmental Protection Agency
Aging Initiative Public Listening Session
Iowa City, Iowa
April 15, 2003

Elizabeth A. Selk
Executive Director
Heritage Area Agency on Aging

Although Kitty Buckwalter and I have known each other for a long time, we don't get to see each other so I want to thank Moya Benoit Thompson and Kathy Sykes, the EPA and everyone for bringing her here today so we could catch up on old times. I also want to welcome all of you and thank you all for taking time - especially on this gorgeous spring day - to be inside and join us in this very important event. I also want to thank two people who made it possible for us to be here today. That's Jeude Landhauser, our operations director at Heritage, and Jill Gleason who is our Support Services Coordinator. Jeude and Jill worked with Moya and Kathy and Lori and all the folks at the University. Kathy and Moya from AoA/EPA are an absolute joy to work with. If you ever have an opportunity to work with them, it is more fun than I can possibly tell you. We, at Heritage, are very concerned about issues and the environment and congratulate the Environmental Protection Agency for this initiative.
