Renewable Energy Fund

Description The Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund (RIREF) provides financing options for renewable energy projects that have the potential to make electricity in a cleaner, more sustainable manner and stimulate job growth in the green technology and energy sectors of Rhode Island's economy. Technical and feasibility studies are funded up to $200,000 per year. Business, commercial, and institutional projects are funded up to $250,000 per year. Municipal renewable energy projects are funded up to $500,000 per year.

Renewable-energy systems eligible for support include facilities in the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) control area that generate electricity, both off-grid and on-grid using as fuel "eligible renewable energy resources" pursuant to Rhode Island general law.

How to Apply Applications for technical feasibility and municipal projects are due in the spring and summer. All other projects are reviewed on a rolling basis. Forms are available on the company's Web site at the link provided below.
