Renewable Energy Grant Program

Description The South Carolina Renewable Energy Grant Program provides grants in the following categories: Planning grants up to $10,000 are available to a research institution or private organization to develop proposals to obtain federal grants and other funding sources for biomass, solar, and wind energy projects in South Carolina. Matching grants up to $200,000 are available for research and development projects that relate to development of South Carolina biomass, solar, and wind energy resources, provided that the grant does not exceed 50 percent of the total cost of the project. Matching grants up to $200,000 are available for demonstration projects that validate the effectiveness of new and future biomass technologies and products, provided that the grant does not exceed 50 percent of the total cost of the demonstration project.

The SC Department of Agriculture is administering this program.
Eligible Organizations Livestock Producer, Commercial/Industrial Business, Educational Institution, Local Government, Nonprofit, Small Business, State Government
How to Apply Program is on hold until Spring 2009. Application information is available in the Solicitation for Preliminary Proposals, which are usually issued in the spring.
