COMEAP is an Advisory Committee in the United Kingdom of independent experts that provides advice to government departments and agencies on all matters concerning the potential toxicity and effects upon health of air pollutants. The group is currently tasked to advise the UK Health Departments on the effects on health of both outdoor and indoor air pollutants on the basis of data currently available; to assess the need for further research; and to liaise as necessary with other government bodies to assess the effects of exposure and associated risks to human health. |

As the lead public health agency responsible for implementing the health-related provisions of Superfund (the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980), ATSDR is charged with assessing health hazards at specific hazardous waste sites, helping to prevent or reduce exposure and the illnesses that result, and increasing knowledge and understanding of the health effects that may result from exposure to hazardous substances. |
