BenMAP Presentations

The briefings linked below contain additional background information on the model.

Training Materials

The links below contain a series of training slides and in-class exercises from a previous training session. Training topics include the importation of air quality data, creating and running a configuration and finally, aggregating, pooling and valuating results.

  • BenMAP Quick Start Guide (For International Use) (zip file) (9.5 MB): this zip file contains a Quick Start Guide and sample data files needed during the training course.
  • Users interested in classroom based training may attend the Community Modeling and Analysis System provided training (www.cmascenter.org). The 3-day BenMAP class is generally offered twice a year. Please contact EPA at BenMAP@epa.gov for more information about the classroom training.

Analysts have used the BenMAP model to answer a variety of policy questions. Below we link to the abstracts of several recent articles in which the authors used BenMAP to estimate air pollution-related health impacts and monetized benefits.

Local- and regional-scale analyses

Analyses performed outside of the U.S.

Health impacts of monitored changes in air quality

Health burden of recent and/or future modeled air quality

Transportation-related health impacts

Reduced-form benefits assessments

Climate assessments
