Ducts are an integral part of any air pollution control system. They transport polluted gases into the control equipment and carry the clean gas to the stack. Gas velocity is a critical performance parameter and depends on the cross-sectional area of a duct. Duct volume is important for proper sizing and evaluation. The animations shown here depict how to calculate the area of a rectangle, the surface area of a rectangular solid and the volume of a rectangular solid.
