Machine Shop
The Machine Shop provides support and assistance through precision machining, including mill and lathe work; development of drawings and plans for special engineering requirements; unique fabrication or machining; fabrication of models and parts for existing instruments; precision welding; construction of specialized instruments and probes; and fabrication of unique metal, plastic, and wood components required by the innovative, in-house research programs. The Shop is managed by a member of the Technical Services Branch with technical expertise in a variety of areas.
