July 1998-Present – Branch Chief, Air Policy Support Branch, NOAA Air Resources Laboratory/Atmospheric Sciences Modeling Division, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Consults and advises the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS) for meteorology, applied modeling, and atmospheric sciences. Facilitate the delivery of air quality modeling systems to OAQPS. Ensure these models are relevant to national programs and to the strategic plans of both NOAA and EPA with regard to policy and research programs. Facilitate evaluation, review, and improvement of these models, as well as the technology transfer to the user community. Interact with researchers, developers, regulators, and users to align model capabilities with the needs of the user community. Provide outreach, training, and coordination with the users, as well as goal-setting, resource allocation, and scheduling with the developers.

April 1993-July – 1998 Master Instructor, Chief of Management Training, National Weather Service Training Center, Kansas City, Missouri

Directed management training and development for National Weather Service. Developed and directly conducted training and consultation for managers NWS-wide. Considered a national expert in management and supervision topics: providing managers the skills and knowledge to adapt to a changing environment by anticipating and innovating; transitioning experienced managers to the new paradigm of interdisciplinary teams and matrix management; developing scientists into new managers and supervisors. Additionally, trained all managers and other staff on techniques for dealing with the media and the public, including in hostile situations, as well as provided follow-up consultation and coaching. Created promotional documentaries on new NWS technologies. Member of NWS negotiating team to develop the Quality-Through-Partnership program, of the Federal Executive Board, and the NOAA Diversity Council.

May 1987-April 1993 – Chief Broadcast Meteorologist "Alaska Weather", National Weather Service Anchorage Forecast Office, Anchorage, Alaska

Supervised the overall preparation and presentation of the nightly television program. Wrote, produced, directed, and edited documentaries on scientific topics. Supervised a production team at the PBS station and wrote a daily column on weather, the Alaskan environment, and public safety in the Anchorage Daily News.

Served as the Anchorage NWS liaison to Federal, State, Local, and Tribal Emergency Managers. Also served as the public/media affairs representative and as the NWS coordinator with the FAA, NTSB, and FEMA, USAF forecasting units, US Navy forecasting unit, and Environment Canada. Member of a fast-response team involving marine wind and sea condition forecasting to support rescue and recovery work on the Exxon Valdez spill.

Jyly 1982-May 1987 – Second-in-Command, Alaska Forecast Unit, Captain, USAF, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska

Senior weather officer to Alaska NORAD Region. Developed and implemented protocols for air-defense in Alaska, Canada and the northern pacific region. Senior weather officer to the US Nuclear Accident Response Team,
