Description: The Colorado Asthma Coalition and The Children’s Hospital, Colorado are pleased to present the “Reach the Peak” Asthma Educator-Certified Prep Course. This two-day course is open to all medical professionals who are seeking comprehensive preparation for the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) exam while equipping them to optimize asthma management in their practice settings. This is not a typical AE-C Prep Course! Facilitated by a multi-disciplinary faculty of leading physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and behavioral health experts, the course will include a combination of lecture, case scenarios, hands-on device technique, networking and small group strategizing for incorporating asthma management into clinical practices.

Event: Be David Graham for a Day - Take Charge of Asthma

Description: David Graham, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, tight end for the Denver Broncos, and an asthmatic, will be on hand to let kids know that they can take charge of asthma and stay in school. Representatives from the National Jewish Medical Center, Denver Health, and the EPA will be there to share information on keeping asthma under control.

Event: Champ Camp

Description: Champ Camp is designed for 7- to 14-year-old kids with asthma. At Champ Camp, campers learn the scientific side of asthma, effective management of their condition, and the importance of staying active in spite of physical and emotional health obstacles. We accomplish this by incorporating asthma education into all activities, which is vital in developing the necessary skills for day-to-day management. Campers also participate in confidence-building and team-centered activities, such as rock climbing, ropes course, canoeing, karaoke, talent contests, etc.
