Education:

B.A. in Biology/Geology, 1997, Wittenberg University
M.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Science, 2001, Penn State University
Ph.D. in Aquatic Biology, 2007, University of Alabama

Research Interests:

I am interested in developing novel methods to predict the distributions of ecosystem services, relative to a number of anthropogenic and natural stressors, at multiple spatial scales. This research is allowing me to integrate much of my previous experience, including basic studies in aquatic ecology and fish biology and biogeography, as well as applied studies in aquatic bioassessment and fisheries management. The ultimate measure of my success will, however, be the degree to which policy makers and the general public are willing to implement ecosystem service models in management decisions. I am therefore also looking for more efficient means of communicating with non-scientific audiences.

Expertise:

Fish ecology, aquatic biology, biogeography, landscape ecology, aquatic bioassessment.
