- Learn to swim
- Swim near a lifeguard
- Use sunscreen to avoid sunburn or damage to your skin
- If you are in trouble, call or wave for help
- Follow lifeguard directions
- Watch for trash and other signs of pollution
- Swim in an even line with the shore if you want to swim a long way
- Only build beach fires where signs say they are allowed
- Report any dangers you see to lifeguards or other beach workers
