General things to look for:
- Dorsal fin rays.
- Caudal fin spots.
Genus Salvelinus (trouts)- Dorsal fin with 10-14 rays. Dark spots present on caudal fin. Pale and red spots present on body.
Genus Oncorhynchus (trouts)- Dorsal fin with 10-12 rays. Dark spots present on caudal fin. Black spots present on body.
Genus Salmo (trouts)- Dorsal fin with 12-14 rays. No spots on caudal fin. Red spots present on body.
