The owner of a 25-unit apartment building in Springfield, Mass. has agreed to pay a fine of $10,000 to settle an EPA enforcement action alleging violations of federal lead-based paint disclosure requirements.
Bridgeport Selected as Environmental Justice Showcase Community

The City of Bridgeport, Conn. was selected by EPA as one of 10 communities nationwide to highlight ways to address environmental justice challenges. As part of this effort, EPA will commit an additional $100,000 in funding for projects in Bridgeport over the next two years.
In N.H., Timberlane School Buildings Earn Energy Star

The Timberlane School District is the first school district in New Hampshire to have multiple buildings cited for superior energy performance. Six schools were awarded Energy Star plaques today in recognition that these school buildings are in the top 25 percent for energy efficiency nationally.

Settlement Clears Way for Cleanup Work at Hows Corner Superfund Site in Plymouth, Maine

A new settlement that includes an estimated $11.2 million in cleanup work will ensure continued cleanup of the West Site/Hows Corner Superfund Site in Plymouth, Maine. The agreement is between the U.S. EPA, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP), the Maine Attorney General, and potentially responsible parties at the Site.
More than $1 Million for Projects to Improve the Health of Long Island Sound

Gathering together on the shores of Long Island Sound, top federal and state environmental officials announced 33 grants to state and local government and community groups under the Long Island Sound Futures Fund (Sound Futures Fund). The $1,011,878 will be leveraged by $1.92 million contributed by the recipients, providing a total of nearly $2.94 million for on-the-ground conservation in Connecticut and New York.
