Contact: Peyton Fleming, EPA Press Office (617-918-1008)

For Immediate Release: November 1, 2000; Release # 00-11-01

BOSTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's New England Office has finished a top-to-bottom redesign of its web site.

"This redesign is a key part of our commitment in helping the public to become more informed and involved with environmental issues that affect their lives," said Mindy S. Lubber, regional administrator at EPA's New England Office. "Users will see a dramatic improvement both in navigating the site and overall content. It is a great resource for New Englanders looking for environmental information on topics ranging from acid rain and global climate change to small business compliance and local drinking water quality."

To visit the new website, please click onto http://www.epa.gov/region01.

The redesign dramatically improves navigation on the site. Instead of a random listing of 90 plus subsites, users can now navigate easily through such vehicles as "Topics and Issues," "Programs" and an "A-to-Z Alphabetical Index." The site is also more comprehensive, including dozens of additional subsites from EPA Headquarters that the regional website wasn't linked to before.

New England-specific content has been expanded as well to include such topics as Boston Harbor, Long Island Sound, Children's Health and the Brownfields Program. The website also has an expanded "About Us" button that includes office information, state unit information and a speakers list.
