Superfund in New England

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection conducted an environmental study at the property in 2000 and found high concentrations of commonly used dry cleaning chemicals (tetrachloroethylene and trichloroethylene) in soils, surface and groundwater near the site. The contamination is believed to have occurred in the 1990's while the facility was under previous ownership and management.

EPA will conduct additional sampling to fully determine areas with contaminated surface and sub-surface soils. A cleanup plan will be developed based on the findings from these analyses.

The agency has allocated $360,000 for this project.
