2005 Environmental Merit Award
For more than thirty years, EPA New England has honored those who have made outstanding contributions on behalf of our region's environment. EPA's Environmental Merit Award program has honored teachers, citizen activists, business leaders, scientists, public officials and others who have made outstanding contributions on behalf of our region's public health and our natural environment.
The Merit Awards recognize outstanding accomplishments during the past year or over a lifetime.
Annual Merit Award:
Nominate an individual, business, government agency, not-for-profit,
professional association, or college/university whose work
on behalf of the environment during the past year is worthy
of recognition.
Lifetime Achievement Merit Award:
Nominate an individual who has demonstrated a sustained commitment
toward improving New England's environment during a career
or over a lifetime.
The nomination period is now open. Your nomination must be postmarked no later than January 19, 2005.

Panel sessions include an overview of state beach programs, identifying sources of bacteria that have closed beaches, fixing problems and financing solutions. Panelists will be from the federal, state, and local governments as well as consultants with experience in these areas.
This is a workshop for health officials, town managers, beach managers, planners, public works departments, elected officials, consultants and other interested parties. For more information contact Susy King at NEIWPCC (978-323-7929).
