    Note: The Kresge Foundation is not part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), hence, the grant program referenced above is not an EPA grant program. US EPA will not provide letters of support or endorsement for organizations applying for funding. US EPA is willing to provide information to Brownfields grantees regarding other private foundation grants relating to Brownfields revitalization.

    In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), this document announces that the following Information Collection Request (ICR) has been forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval: Brownfields Program-- Revitalization Grantee Reporting. The ICR, which is abstracted below, describes the nature of the information collection and its estimated burden and cost. Additional comments may be submitted on or before September 3, 2003.

  • Remarks of Governor Christine Todd Whitman, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, on announcing the Land Revitalization Agenda Baltimore, Maryland
    The "Land Revitalization Agenda" was announced by EPA Administrator Christie Whitman at the Harbor Point site (formerly AlliedSignal), a 27-acre peninsula in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The site was successfully cleaned up in Feb. 2000 under RCRA's Corrective Action Program. Plans for Harbor Point redevelopment call for 1.8 million square feet of mixed-used space, representing up to $400 million in new investment and creating as many as 5,000 jobs. more...

  • Agency Information Collection Activities: Proposed Collection; Comment Request; Brownfields Program Revitalization Grantee Reporting
    In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), this document announces that EPA is planning to submit the following proposed Information Collection Request (ICR) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB): Brownfields Program--Revitalization Grantee Reporting, EPA ICR Number 2104.01. This information collection request applies to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements that apply to recipients of assessment, revolving loan fund, cleanup and job training grants awarded under subtitle A of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act (Public Law 107-118). Before submitting the ICR to OMB for review and approval, EPA is soliciting comments on specific aspects of the proposed information collection.

  • Withdrawal of Direct Final Rule

  • EPA Publishes Notice of Intent to Negotiate All Appropriate Inquiry Rule
    EPA intends to establish a Negotiated Rulemaking Committee under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) and the Negotiated Rulemaking Act (NRA) to negotiate proposed federal standards for conducting all appropriate inquiry. The purpose of the Committee will be to conduct discussions and reach consensus, if possible, on proposed regulatory language setting standards and practices for conducting all appropriate inquiry, as required by the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act (the Brownfields Law). more...

    These guidelines provide eligible applicants an opportunity to apply for federal funding for brownfields-related training, research or technical assistance. Deadline for applications is April 14, 2003.     EPA is accepting proposals for national brownfields assessment, revolving loan fund and cleanup grants. These grants are part of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act to help states and communities around the country clean up and revitalize Brownfield sites.

  • September 8, 2003 - Public Meeting for Draft Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants
    The purpose of the public meeting is for EPA's Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment to listen to the views of public stakeholders on the Agency's draft Brownfield Grants Guidelines.

    NOTE: EPA is making changes to the petroleum portions of the "Draft Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants" posted on EPA's Brownfields website and dated August 25, 2003. EPA is changing the petroleum portion of the Threshold Criteria for Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup Grants, and removing the reserve on a portion of Appendix 3, Guidance on Sites Eligible for Brownfields Funding Under CERCLA Sec. 104(k) pertaining to paragraph 3.3.2 Contamination by Petroleum or Petroleum Product.
