Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Makes $160,000 Loan to Clean Up Main and Pavilion Shopping Center |
On April 5, 2005, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development loaned $160,000 to Public Housing Residents Going Places, Inc to assist with cleanup costs associated with the Maine Pavilion Shopping Center. This loan was made possible through a $434,172 EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant awarded to the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development in 2004. The cleanup, which was completed in September 2004, involved removal of petroleum and volatile organic compound contamination from soil on one acre of the property. In addition to EPA funding, Public Housing Residents Going Places, Inc. also leveraged $6,218,000 in redevelopment funding through federal, local and private partnerships. The Main and Pavilion Shopping Center is open for business, generating 36 job opportunities and various retail services for the local Clay Arsenal neighborhood. For more information about this loan or the Connecticut Department of Economic Community Development EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund, contact the EPA Region 1 Brownfields Coordinator at (617) 918-1424. |
