The City of New Orleans Makes $325,000 Loan to Clean Up Three Chartres Street Properties |
On February 9, 2004, the City of New Orleans loaned $325,000 to Planet of the Dreamers, LLC to assist with cleanup costs associated with three Chartres Street properties. This loan was made possible through a $350,000 EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant awarded to the City of New Orleans in 1997. The cleanup, which was completed in December 2004, involved the removal of petroleum, asbestos, lead and an underground storage tank from soil and ground water on the one and one-half acre property. While the brownfields cleanup has been completed, the redevelopment of the property has been delayed as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
