Oklahoma City Provides $1 Million in Loans to Clean Up the Dowell Center
In March 2007, the City of Oklahoma City loaned $955,975 to Midland Center Limited Partnership and provided a $44,024 supplemental loan in August 2007 to assist with cleanup costs associated with the Dowell Center. This loan was made possible through a $2 million EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant awarded to Oklahoma City in 2005. Cleanup, which involves asbestos abatement, is expected to be complete by 2008. In addition to EPA funding, Midland Center Limited Partnership leveraged $8,254,520 in redevelopment funding through private partnerships. Once cleanup is complete, the 20-story building will be renovated for commercial redevelopment.
