City of Springfield Makes $325,000 Loan to Clean Up Former Bayley Manufacturing Facility Property |
On June 5, 2003, the City of Springfield, Ohio loaned $325,000 to the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) to assist with cleanup costs associated with the former Bayley Manufacturing Facility property. This loan was made possible through a $1 million EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant awarded to the City of Springfield in September 2002. The former Bayley Manufacturing Facility was used to produce blackout windows, bomb shelter doors, and other war products during World War II. The property was later used to manufacture iron and steel products and parts, and as retail and warehouse space. On November 3, 2003, cleanup was completed at the former Bayley Manufacturing Facility. The city plans to build a new 21,000-square foot regional oncology center. In addition to EPA funding, the city and its partners leveraged $7 million.
