Brownfields ’96: A New Environmental Frontier, took place on September 19-21, 1996 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was a highly successful effort -- more than 1,000 people including representatives of the business community, community representatives, environmentalists, members of faith communities, financiers, local government officials, real estate investors, and state and local officials, attended the conference. The diversity of the participants in Brownfields ’96 emphasized the importance of the many issues that affect brownfields cleanup and redevelopment.
