Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC)
is a state-led coalition working together with industry and stakeholders
to achieve regulatory acceptance of environmental technologies. ITRC
consists of 40 states, the District of Columbia, multiple federal
partners, industry participants, and other stakeholders. This page

- Brownfields and Land
Revitalization Technology Support Center
Local and state government personnel, EPA staff, and tribes may request site-specific support for brownfields and Superfund sites from the BTSC at no cost.
- EPA Technology Innovation
Program (TIP)
The scope of TIP's mission extends to Superfund sites, corrective action sites under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), underground storage tank clean-ups, state voluntary clean up programs and Brownfields. - Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities (TAB)
The TAB grants provide geographically-based technical assistance and training to communities and other stakeholders on brownfields issues with the goal of increasing the community's understanding and involvement in brownfield cleanup and revitalization. The TAB grants serve as an independent source of information assisting communities with community involvement, better understanding the health impacts of brownfield sites, science and technology relating to brownfield site assessment, remediation, and site preparation activities, brownfield finance questions, and information on integrated approaches to brownfield cleanup and redevelopment.

- The Hazardous Substance
Research Centers (HSRC)
is a national organization comprising five multi-university centers,
which provide basic and applied research, technology transfer, and
training related to hazardous substance management. Each of the centers
address hazardous substance issues through approaches and outreach
programs that are unique to their region.

Substances in Urban Environments (CHSUE)
serves EPA Regions 1, 2, and 3 the urban metropolitan areas in
the upper mid-Atlantic to Northeast region.

serves the states in EPA Regions 5 and 7.
- The Rocky
Mountain Regional Hazardous Substance Research Center (HSRC)
serves the states within EPA Region 8.

SMARTe is a joint effort of the U.S.-German Bilateral Working Group, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) Brownfields Team. The tool is intended to be used by brownfield project stakeholders for assessing both market and non-market costs and benefits of redevelopment options, clarifying both private and public financing options, evaluating and communicating environmental risks, and easing access to pertinent state-specific information related to specific projects. SMARTe will provide the analytical tools needed to implement and integrate each component of the decision process.
- Vision to Action with the COE and the EPA Brownfields Program (PDF) (13 pp, 1.2M)
The Vision-to-Action tool is a process designed to inspire community members to: (1) visualize what they value about the place they live and/or visualize how they would like their community to change and (2) translate their visualizations into the actions needed to bring their visions into reality. The process utilizes an artist to facilitate the visualization and to help people get in touch with features that make communities unique and livable.
