Clean Air Act (CAA) National Emissions Inventory (NEI) Reporting
- Summer 2007: Region 3 clarified with Maryland that Region 3 grantees only need to enter their data into the National Emissions Inventory (NEI) once and by a specific due date (this process encompasses both Area Source and Mobile Source Inventories). The final negotiated FY2008 work plan commitment reflects a single due date for submission. (Applies to Recommendation A1.)
- 10/2008: Published the Consolidated Emissions Reporting Schema (CERS), an XML schema that will be used to report emissions data to the EIS, as well as other systems like The Climate Registry.
- 03/2009: Populate EIS with historic emissions inventory data.
- Summer 2009: Release file format and software tool to assist states in converting their data into the new CERS XML schema.
- Summer 2009: Development of nonpoint and mobile source emissions data. These data will be loaded into EIS and states may chose to use these data rather than develop their own.
