How to Make Payment to EPA
Directions on how to make a payment to EPA are normally disclosed on the document which authorizes the purchase or service. It is important to direct payment to the appropriate EPA Finance Center to ensure your remittance is credited to the proper account. Each Finance Center has its own unique Agency Location Code, and each U.S. Depository has an unique bank routing number.
Methods of Remittance
- Lockbox Depositories: Remitters mail checks to a designated U.S. depository bank; please view the below table for lockbox addresses
- Vendor Express:Remitters authorize their Financial Institutions to initiate an Automated Clearing House (ACH) credit transaction to a unique routing number at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
- Fedwire: Remitters authorize a Financial Institution to initiate an electronic (Fedwire) payment to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY). Generally, this is used for foreign payments.
To ensure proper credit please include the following information on your payment:
- Company/Remitter's Name (as it appears on EPA Document)
- Complete Address, including City, State, Zip
- Remitter's Point of Contact Person & Phone Number
- EPA Document Number (Contract, Grant, Purchase Order, etc.)—NOT the remitter's number
- EPA Contact Name and Phone Number, if available
- Reason for payment
